R&D for Smart Materials and SMASIS products
SMASIS means: Smart Materials, Adaptive Structures, and Intelligent Systems. Smart Materials are those for which physical properties change with their environment. Examples are shape memory alloys that can change in shape or size with a change in temperature. The most common shape memory metal alloys are made of NiTi (Nickel Titanium).
